OUR NEXT WALK: 13th August 2026
Led by: Sarah Parry
Meeting Time: 9.30am (note the earlier start time)
Meeting Place: The bottom of Churchsettle Lane by Crouch Cottage TN5 6NH (Parking is just where you can find it on the lane so car share if possible.) If anybody needs a lift we'll meet outside Sarah's house (opposite the main entrance to Uplands) at 9.15am
Details: The walk is very hilly but pretty woodland and no stiles. It is possible to extend the walk if anybody is feeling energetic but we can decide on the day.
Weather/Risk Assessment: It looks like the relentless hot weather is continuing and it's going to be another scorcher this Thursday, but a lot of it in woodland.
Another date for your diaries:
8th October 2026 - Tim Ball is planning a joint Modern Architecture/Walking group venture in South London, more details CLICK HERE

General Information :
Our walks include a mixture of terrains: in the summer we try to get out into the countryside through woods and fields while in muddy winter we use routes with at least some quiet lanes or paths with hard surfaces. Details of each walk are sent out in advance with a brief description of what to expect and, on some occasions, we incorporate a cafe or pub..... always popular!
The group runs on the understanding that (normally) Ian leads about half the walks and other members who would like to do so, choose and lead the rest (but no one should feel the slightest pressure to do so).
Routes can be repeats of those we've already done (they look quite different at different times of year anyway!) or brand new. We tend to focus on the local area but have enjoyed going further afield. Car sharing is usually possible.
New members are always welcome (and their dogs too…).
