If gym sessions aren't for you, these classes are a really great way to make new friends, tax your memory/co-ordination and get fit….
And, of course, they are hugely enjoyable.

Ballroom Dance Lessons start at 11.00am
(Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep and Tango)
Latin Dance Lessons start at 12noon
(Samba, Cha Cha, Jive, Rumba)
The classes are taught by Harley Nelson, who is sometimes joined by her dance partner, Thomas Purdy. Together, they are in the top twelve ballroom dancers in the UK!
The first hour is dedicated to the Ballroom Classics (starting with the Waltz and Quickstep, to be followed by Foxtrot, Tango and Viennese Waltz) and the second hour to the Latin Favourites (Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, moving on to Samba and Jive!). Members may choose to attend just one class, or 'sign up' for both sessions. There is a cost of £6 per person for one session, and £12 per person for both sessions. The cost of room hire is divided by the numbers attending (usually £4 pp). Members stay in touch via WhatsApp where we share videos of each routine.
NEW MEMBERS from Wadhurst and other u3a's are always welcome, whether you're an absolute beginner or more experienced.
NOTE: These classes are OPEN to all. Come and Join us!
The pictures are of Harley and Thomas, giving us a wonderful ballroom showcase at our u3a Christmas Party (December 2025). They moved so fast around the floor, it was difficult to take clear photographs!
